The home has been declared a National Historic Landmark due to its association with Edward Rutledge, who was instrumental in the struggle for American Independence, and the youngest signer of the Declaration of Independence.

Located in the heart of downtown Charleston, and just a short walk from the iconic Battery and City Market. Fine dining, shopping, and Spoleto venues are within walking distance as well. When staying at the Governor’s House Inn you can choose to park your car and amble down the avenues to dine, visit historic sites, shop at King Street or Gallery Row. If you’d like to explore by car, enjoy our local plantations, beaches and much more!

Guests can relax on the expansive piazza or stately piano room to enjoy the afternoon wine reception, or evening sherry served in the parlour, Guests will receive a daily voucher to enjoy breakfast at a selection of local restaurants. Complimentary WiFi, and onsite parking is included.

Each Guest Room has a bathroom and is uniquely decorated. All rooms feature flat screen televisions, bathrobes, hairdryers, irons & ironing boards. Selected suites have a decorative fireplace, seating area, four-poster canopy beds and outdoor piazzas.
